Quick Start Guide

Get your first AI agent live and responding to customers in under 10 minutes.

Prerequisites

  • A UCrew account (free to start — sign up at ucrew.ai/register)
  • A channel to connect: Facebook Page, Instagram Business, WhatsApp, or a website
  • Basic knowledge of your business — the AI will learn from what you give it

Step-by-Step Setup

1

Create Your Account

Head to ucrew.ai/register and sign up with your email address. Verify your email — you'll receive a confirmation link within a minute.

If you're signing in with Google, verification is automatic.

2

Create Your First Project

After logging in, you'll land on your Dashboard. Click New Project:

  • Give your project a name (e.g., "My Store Support Bot")
  • Choose your primary language
  • Select your business category for better AI defaults

You can create multiple projects — one per brand, store, or use case.

3

Configure Your AI's Behavior

In the AI Settings tab, customize how your agent behaves:

  • Set the AI's name and personality (e.g., friendly, professional, concise)
  • Write a system prompt describing what the AI should and shouldn't do
  • Set a fallback message for questions it can't answer
  • Configure response language preferences

A good system prompt is the most important part. Example: "You are a helpful support agent for Acme Store. Answer questions about products, shipping, and returns. If the customer wants to place an order, collect their name, email, and order details."

4

Add Your Knowledge Base

Go to the Knowledge Base tab and upload documents about your business:

  • Product catalogs (PDF, DOCX)
  • FAQ documents
  • Shipping & return policies
  • Company information

Supported formats: PDF DOCX TXT MD

The AI uses your documents to provide accurate, grounded answers. The more relevant content you upload, the better the responses.

5

Connect a Channel

Go to Integrations and connect your first channel:

Each channel has its own setup guide — click the links above for detailed instructions.

6

Test Your Agent

Use the built-in Test Chat panel (right side of your dashboard) to simulate conversations:

  • Ask questions your customers typically ask
  • Test your knowledge base responses
  • Verify actions trigger correctly (lead capture, etc.)
  • Check fallback messages for unanswered questions

Refine your system prompt and knowledge base based on test results before going live.

7

Go Live 🎉

Once you're satisfied with the test results, your agent is already live on the connected channels. Visit your Facebook Page, Instagram, or WhatsApp and send a message — your AI agent will respond automatically. For websites, see the Widget Installation Guide.
